Trust, evidence & methodology
We would rather show less and stand behind all of it. This page states what our findings mean and what they do not.
We provide observations, preserved evidence and qualified findings. We do not provide legal advice or make legal determinations.
- 01Evidence you can hand on
- Every finding is delivered with the material that produced it and the date we saw it. A finding whose evidence cannot be preserved is not delivered as a finding.
- 02Findings you can rank
- Every finding states how sure we are and why, in plain language. That is a statement about the strength of what we found — never a prediction of a legal outcome.
- 03Sources named, silence declared
- Each result names the class of source behind it. Where a source could not be read, the report says so and shows nothing: silence is never presented to you as a clean result.
- 04Limits stated in writing
- Coverage is what is publicly observable about the perimeter you confirm. Every report carries a statement of what was covered and what was not.
- 05Not a legal determination
- We provide observations, preserved evidence and qualified findings. We do not provide legal advice or opinions, and we make no legal determination. Our output is intended to support a decision taken by qualified counsel.
- 06Resemblance is not wrongdoing
- Legitimate resellers, partners, fan communities and coincidences are constant. Separating them is the work — and you can suppress an asset or a pattern for good.
What people ask before they send us a domain list
Short answers. Each one is checkable against the privacy and cookies pages.
- Do you use advertising cookies?
- No. One cookie remembers the language you chose, and nothing else is set. There is no advertising, analytics or profiling technology on this site.
- Is my data sold?
- No. Nothing you give us is sold, shared or used for anyone else's purposes. Your scope runs your service and does nothing else.
- Does Guardian receive my card details?
- No. Payment is taken on the payment provider's own page. We never see a card number. We may receive the buyer's email, the amount and a transaction reference.
- Do I need an account to buy a Snapshot?
- No password and no login. You give us the scope to assess and a notification address, which together create the engagement record your report belongs to.
- Why is some data kept during Monitoring?
- Because a cycle that cannot remember the last one cannot tell you what changed. Monitoring keeps the confirmed scope, the baseline and the changes it found, for as long as the service runs.
- What happens to the identifier I type into the Free Check?
- It runs the check and is discarded. It is not stored, not logged and not added to any list. There is nothing to delete afterwards because nothing was kept.
